Declaring that their pro-beard movement has achieved all it can through the medium of live performance, The Beards will be calling an end to their hard-touring ways and have announced a huge Farewell Tour for 2016. The band will be touring throughout Australia performing two sets jam-packed with pro-beard anthems from their impressive five album back-catalogue, incorporating both the stripped-back acoustic sound that saw them crack Triple J’s Hottest 100, and the infectious pop-rock that has won them a legion of fans worldwide. While the band have stated that they will continue to actively propagate a pro-beard agenda, they will be hanging up their touring hat indefinitely, and fans in all states and territories will have one last chance to get a dose of pro-beard activist rock. Don't miss this hugely-entertaining Aussie phenomenon's victory lap around Australia, starting in February 2016.

    The Beards

The concept of The Beards is simple – a rock band that exclusively perform songs about just one subject: Beards.

Forming in 2005 to play just one show in their hometown of Adelaide, South Australia, the band quickly realised that their unique concept was in hot demand. With the release of their self-titled debut album, and follow-up album Beards Beards Beards, The Beards began a relentless touring crusade to spread their pro-beard message, playing sold-out shows across Australia, festival appearances including Big Day Out, Falls Festival and Woodford Folk Festival, and of course their now legendary appearance at the 2009 World Beard and Moustache Championships in Anchorage, Alaska.

A cult following was quickly and firmly established, and the release of their 3rd LP Having a Beard Is The New Not Having a Beard in 2011 propelled the band even further into the spotlight. The album was nominated for an ARIA award, and lead single You Should Consider Having Sex With a Bearded Man cracked Triple J’s Hottest 100, as well as being nominated for one of the nation’s top songwriting awards, the APRA Song Of The Year. With international attention growing rapidly, the band headed overseas, showcasing at SXSW in Austin Texas and Canadian Music Week in Toronto, before heading to Europe where they have drawn capacity crowds across the UK, Ireland, Germany, Denmark and The Netherlands. A second ARIA nomination followed for 2014's The Beards Album, described by the band as their "beardiest album yet".

In 2015, the band marked their 10-year anniversary with the release of the compilation double-album, Ten Long Years, One Long Beard, featuring a greatest hits, rare and previously unreleased tracks, and a complete live set recorded at Sydney's iconic Metro Theatre. With their videos now having amassed over 6 million views on YouTube, and a global following the envy of novelty bands everywhere, The Beards continue in their ceaseless journey to make the world a more beard-friendly place.

Bearded men, put down those trimmers – the Beard Revolution has come.
